What: Public School Proud Rally for a Fair Contract
When: Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 4:45 to 5:45 pm (before the negotiating team's meeting with the Lynn School Committee)
Where: 100 Bennett Street
The Lynn School Committee and the Lynn Teachers Union have been negotiating over a successor contract for nine months and are scheduled to meet for the ninth time on May 31st. The 2013-2016 contract expired on August 31, 2016 and the LTU requested to commence negotiations in December of 2015 yet the first negotiating session was September 29, 2016.
The proposal presented to the LTU team on May 10th was insulting. The best public schools are those where parents want to send their children, and where teachers and school staff want to work because they feel supported and respected. Stand up with teachers and school staff at a rally to support your public schools and to urge the Lynn School Committee to negotiate a fair contract.
