Hello LTU1037 member:
Now is the time to come together to join with fellow union members and community members to call for a just sustainable healthy recovery. To Fight COVID 19, relieve economic damage it is causing for workers, families, and our schools, we need a government response that rises to the needs of our communities, which are greater than ever. Massachusetts must not default to severe budget cuts that would only worsen the effects of this downturn. The moratorium on evictions expires in 30 days which could result in thousands of families in the North Shore being pushed out of their homes. And the fall is right around the corner with no clear plan to fully fund schools to safely re-open.
Lawmakers have a choice: Massachusetts can let deep budget cuts drive us deeper into a recession that deepens racial and economic inequities, or we can invest in public services that improve public health, grow our economy, and reduce racial inequality. Massachusetts can raise significant new revenue from profitable corporations and their shareholders this year, avoid destructive budget cuts, and instead, invest in our recovery.
That is why we are coming together on Thursday July 16th at noon on the steps of Lynn City Hall. Please wear masks to this event. Register for event below.
Invest in Our Recovery!
In Solidarity,
Sheila
